My Digital Capability Exchange Story
I’ve spent years working in technology consulting and seeing the same problem: brilliant people sitting idle between projects while companies struggled to find the right talent at the right time. It was frustrating for everyone — and I knew there had to be a better way.
When I spoke with James Bunting from Leighton and Tom Lawson from Opencast, we realised we were all facing the same challenge. We asked ourselves: what if consultancies could collaborate instead of compete, sharing talent through a trusted network? That idea became the foundation of Digital Capability Exchange UK.
We designed Digital Capability Exchange as a not-for-profit ecosystem where companies can both contribute and access talent as projects demand. For me, the focus has always been people — ensuring our teams stay engaged, grow their skills, and take on meaningful work across different industries.
What began as a simple conversation between three companies has now grown into a national initiative, connecting many member organisations around the UK. Digital Capability Exchange is proof that when we work together, we can create smarter, fairer, and more flexible ways for digital talent to thrive.
